Israel seeks to boost investment in Azerbaijan, says FM Sa’ar
Israel is interested in expanding its investments in Azerbaijan, particularly in defence, energy, water resources, technology and cybersecurity, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said on January 26.
Speaking at the Azerbaijan–Israel business forum in Baku, Sa’ar said the issue had been discussed in detail during his meeting with Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Sa’ar said Israel and Azerbaijan were pillars of stability in their respective regions, with advanced economies, and stressed the ambition to elevate the strategic partnership by boosting mutual investment and expanding people-to-people ties. He expressed confidence that these goals would be achieved.
The Israeli foreign minister also invited Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov to pay an official visit to Israel.
Sa’ar encouraged Israeli citizens to travel more actively to Azerbaijan, citing a sharp increase in tourism between the two countries. He said about 60,000 Israeli tourists visited Azerbaijan in 2025, describing the figure as a significant rise and noting the potential to increase the flow further. He highlighted Azerbaijan as a safe and attractive destination for Jews and Israelis.
He added that bilateral trade between Israel and Azerbaijan grew by about 50% in 2025 to more than $360 million, voicing confidence that trade volumes would continue to expand in 2026.
