Israel targets wallet of war: Hamas financier killed
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet internal security agency announced the elimination of Hamas operative Nour al-Din Dabbash, responsible for channeling millions to Hamas’s military wing, during a targeted operation in the Gaza Strip on September 1.
According to a statement released by the IDF press office, Dabbash held a senior position within the financial division of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades (IQB), the armed wing of Hamas. His role was reportedly central to the flow of funds that sustained the militant group’s operations in Gaza, Caliber.Az reports.
Israeli intelligence agencies assert that Dabbash was instrumental in the collection and transfer of tens of millions of dollars to Hamas’s military wing. These funds, the agencies claim, were used to bolster the group’s combat capabilities and ensure the continuity of its operations in the Gaza Strip.
“These funds were used to strengthen the military wing and finance the military activities of the terrorist organization,” the IDF and Shin Bet said in a joint statement. “They enabled the continuation of hostilities and ensured the survival of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.”
The statement did not specify the method of the operation or whether other individuals were targeted. However, Israeli officials described the strike as part of an ongoing campaign to disrupt Hamas’s financial infrastructure, which they argue is critical to the group’s operational resilience.
