Israeli president extends condolences to Ilham Aliyev

The Israeli President, Isaac Herzog called President Ilham Aliyev on January 28 to condemn the terrorist act committed against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran.

As Caliber.Az reports, referring to the president’s official website, President Herzog also expressed his condolences in regard to the death of the Head of the security service at the embassy, Orkhan Askerov.

President Aliyev informed his Israeli colleague, that the other Embassy guard, being unarmed, threw himself at the terrorist, disarming him with his fearless and skillful actions. He noted that if the terrorist, armed with a rifle and numerous magazines for ammunition, had not been disarmed, he might have targeted other members of the Embassy and their families living in the residential section of the building.

in return, President Aliyev extended his condolences to Herzog regarding the deadly shooting at a synagogue in East Jerusalem on January 27 to the families of those killed and wished speedy recovery to the wounded.

President Ilham Aliyev reiterated during the phone call that Azerbaijan, being a state affected by terrorism, condemns all of its forms and manifestations, regardless of the motives.
