26 August 2024 20:10
Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Masataka Okano summoned Shi Yong, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese embassy, in response to a violation of Japan's airspace by a Chinese reconnaissance aircraft.
"On August 26, it was confirmed that a Chinese reconnaissance aircraft (Y-9) violated airspace over the islands in Nagasaki Prefecture for about two minutes, starting at 11:29 a.m. In response, at around 17:20 the same day, Deputy Foreign Minister Masataka Okano summoned the embassy's Charge d'Affaires," Caliber.Az reports, citing a press release from the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, Tokyo lodged a protest with Beijing over the airspace violation, which prompted the Japanese leadership to deploy fighter jets.
