Seven militants killed in counter-terrorism operations in Pakistan’s Balochistan
Pakistani security forces killed seven militants in two intelligence-based operations in Balochistan.
Five militants were killed in the Fateh Ali area of Panjgur district, where security forces also recovered large quantities of weapons and ammunition, Dawn reports.
In a separate operation in the Dhadar area of Kachhi district, two more militants were killed, while several others were reportedly wounded.
The operations come amid an increase in militant attacks across Balochistan, prompting Pakistani security forces to step up counter-terrorism operations in the province.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the number of militant attacks in Balochistan rose 7% from 83 in July to 89 in August.
A series of major security operations has been reported across the province in recent weeks.
