Japan, US agree on joint efforts to calm Middle East situation
13 January 2024 16:51
The United States and Japan have agreed on joint efforts to prevent the Palestinian-Israeli conflict from escalating into a major war in the Middle East.
Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa expressed to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken her respect for the current US actions taken to release hostages, improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and generally "normalise the situation", Gazeta.Ru reported citing Japanese Foreign Ministry's message.
As a result, Blinken and Kamikawa agreed to make joint diplomatic efforts to ensure that the conflict between Israel and Palestine does not spread to the rest of the region.
