Iranian president to attend UN General Assembly in New York

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is set to travel to New York in the coming days to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Pezeshkian is expected to address the UN General Assembly and outline Iran’s positions on major international developments, with particular emphasis on what Tehran describes as the “US-Israeli war of aggression” against Iran, Caliber.Az reports via Iranian media.

During his visit, the Iranian president is also expected to hold meetings and consultations with the leaders of several countries on the sidelines of the General Assembly. A high-ranking Iranian delegation will accompany him.

The 81st UN General Assembly session is being held under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”

The high-level general debate is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 26 and on September 28 in New York, bringing together heads of state and government and other senior officials to discuss major international challenges.

The session’s programme also includes high-level meetings on climate action, sustainable development, sea-level rise, pandemic preparedness and other issues on the international agenda.
