JD Vance outlines terms for possible US economic support to Iran
US Vice President JD Vance has stated that economic support for Iran depends on its compliance with the agreement, outlining the conditions under which Tehran could receive assistance.
In an interview with CNBC, he made it clear that the truth is Iran will have a much more prosperous future if it fulfills the commitments it is making under this agreement, Caliber.Az reports.
JD Vance further noted that reports claiming the United States plans to unfreeze billions of dollars in Iranian assets are false.
“Do they want access to the world economy? If so, they are going to have to give up the long-term nuclear ambition,” he added.
Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi confirmed in a state TV interview that a deal with the United States had been finalized, while Trump posted on social media: “let the oil flow!”.
However, analysts warned that uncertainty remains over the details of the agreement.
The Strait of Hormuz has been largely disrupted since the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran in late February. During the conflict, Tehran threatened vessels using the strategic waterway, which normally carries around 20% of global oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.
Energy markets have experienced significant swings in recent months, with Brent crude rising from around $70 per barrel before the conflict to a peak of roughly $120 during the war.
