Jordan's FM urges UN to act against Israel's Temple Mount proposals
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has said that the UN Security Council should consider taking action against Israel over National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's announcement of plans to build a synagogue on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
“We urge the Security Council and all members of the Int’l community to take immediate effective action to stop the illegal Israeli measures that violate the historical & legal status quo at occupied Jerusalem’s Holy Sites. As the occupying power, Israel is legally responsible for protecting the historical and legal Status quo,” Caliber.Az quotes Safadi as saying on his X page.
“The Security Council must adopt a binding resolution preventing Israel from further violations and escalation at Al Aqsa Mosque /The Haram Al Sharif.
It must do so before it is too late.
The situation is already explosive. The hate-driven ideology enabling the designs to change the identity of the Mosque will provide the spark. The consequences will be dangerous. We will take all possible actions, including legal action in international courts, that will help protect Jerusalem’s Holy Sites and their Arab, Muslim, Christian identity,” Safadi wrote.
