Kazakhstan’s Amanat party to merge with newly formed Adilet party
Kazakhstan’s ruling Amanat Party is set to merge with the newly established Adilet Party following a decision adopted at the party’s 26th congress in Astana.
The decision was approved during the gathering of Amanat delegates, with participants voting in favour of the merger initiative, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
Mazhilis deputy Unzila Shapak said the move reflects the need for political consolidation in light of what she described as a complex geopolitical environment and global challenges. She stated that national stability and development should remain the top priority.
Shapak added that the merger is intended to pool resources and strengthen political forces that support state and societal interests, describing it as a natural step in the evolution of the country’s political system.
Amanat, Kazakhstan’s largest political party, traces its origins to the Nur Otan party, which was renamed in 2022. It holds a majority of seats in the Mazhilis, the lower house of parliament, and is widely viewed as supporting the country’s current political leadership.
The Adilet Party was officially registered on June 1, 2026, following an initiative launched in April that year. Its founding group reportedly included several prominent business figures listed among Kazakhstan’s wealthiest individuals, including Andrei Lavrentyev, Aigazy Kusainov, and Rauan Kenzhekhanyuly.
Both political groups are aligned in their support for the policy direction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
