Kremlin condemns killings of Iranian leaders, denies assisting Tehran
The Kremlin has strongly condemned any actions that harm the health of political leaders, particularly attempts to kill officials of sovereign states, including Iran.
Speaking to reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia “resolutely condemns actions aimed at harming health or, all the more so, the killing and elimination of representatives of the leadership of sovereign and independent Iran, as well as other countries,” TASS reported.
Peskov also highlighted the impact of the conflict around Iran on global energy markets, noting that the situation has created significant instability.
“The energy market is currently experiencing very serious shocks due to the war around Iran. These disruptions, of course, make it difficult to forecast market developments,” he said.
In addition, the Kremlin dismissed reports in Western media alleging that Moscow is providing assistance to Tehran in the Middle East conflict.
Commenting on publications by The Wall Street Journal, Peskov said a large amount of unreliable information is circulating around the conflict and that the Kremlin does not consider it necessary to respond to every such report.
He also recalled that US officials had previously stated they have no evidence that Russia is providing military assistance to Iran in the current conflict.
