Kremlin spox: Russia not aware of Macron's peace plan to resolve conflict in Ukraine
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing with journalists that the Russian Federation was not aware of France's peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, Gazeta.ru reports.
Earlier Bloomberg news agency, citing informed sources, reported that French President Emmanuel Macron plans to approach China with a plan that he believes could lead to negotiations between Russian Federation and Ukraine.
"Macron wants to break a string of frustrating diplomatic moves by approaching China with a plan that he believes could potentially lead to negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv," the agency said.
According to the agency, the French leader has instructed his diplomatic adviser Emmanuel Bonne to work with the head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Wang Yi, to form the basis for the talks.
Bloomberg notes that an official from Macron's office has confirmed that Bonne plans to talk to his Chinese counterpart, but did not disclose details of a future meeting. China's foreign ministry said it was now difficult to verify the authenticity of this information.
