Latvian FM: Armenia–Azerbaijan peace deal opens path to EU cooperation
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has stated that a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan would create new opportunities for cooperation with Europe, highlighting progress in efforts to resolve the long-standing conflict.
Speaking on Armenian-Azerbaijani relations at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Braže emphasised Latvia’s support for the normalisation process between the two countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
She said that the sides represented significant progress toward ending a long-standing conflict.
“Latvia fully supports the process of normalising relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, within which we see continuous constructive engagement by both sides,” she noted.
Braže made it clear that Latvia considers it important for the international community to facilitate and support this process.
“The signing of a peace agreement will make a significant contribution to ensuring security, stability, and prosperity in the South Caucasus region. At the same time, it will open new opportunities for closer cooperation with Europe, including in the field of transport infrastructure,” the foreign minister added.
