Lithuania signs new defence cooperation deal with Lockheed Martin
Lithuania is expanding its defence cooperation with US defence company Lockheed Martin, with a focus on advancing missile technologies and strengthening collaboration in maintenance, training, and systems integration.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Defence Minister Vitalija Zumerene and representatives of Lockheed Martin, according to LRT, citing Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence.
The document provides for closer cooperation within the defence industry and outlines plans to expand Lockheed Martin’s presence in Lithuania.
As part of the agreement, both sides intend to integrate Lithuanian companies into international supply chains, enhance technological capabilities, and involve local industry and scientific institutions in joint projects.
Zumerene said the agreement creates tangible opportunities to deepen cooperation between the defence company, government institutions, and Lithuanian businesses. She stressed that Lithuania aims not only to purchase weapons but also to strengthen its own role within the defence technology ecosystem.
Lithuania has already procured HIMARS systems from Lockheed Martin, which has previously established a division in the country.
