Macron: BRICS expanded in attempt to establish alternative world order
French President Emmanuel Macron said that the accession of new members to BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) is an attempt to establish an alternative world order, TASS reports.
According to him, the expansion of the community is an attempt to replace what is called the world order, "which today is regarded as too Western".
On August 24, during a press conference, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that Argentina, Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia will join BRICS from January 1, 2024.
Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik also stated that the country's application to join BRICS is being considered in the first instance.
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, BRICS is not going to become a "new collective hegemon".
