Media: France poised for rapid military intervention in Africa
France has at its disposal “thousands” of soldiers who are ready to promptly go to one of the African countries to participate in the intervention, Caliber.Az reports, citing The Wall Street Journal.
“France will keep thousands of soldiers at home, ready to intervene in Africa as soon as possible,” WSJ writes.
The newspaper noted that France is now rethinking its “military position” in the region after authorities in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger “ordered French troops to leave.”
According to unnamed French officials, Paris is already moving its military trainers to local military bases in Gabon, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Chad.
At the same time, it is emphasised that France will continue to participate in the affairs of African countries, but Paris intends to make its involvement in the internal processes of the region “less visible”.
