Media: Iran exported $6 billion in oil before blockade hit
Iran exported more than 80 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products, valued at approximately $6 billion, during the 26-day period leading up to the resumption of the maritime blockade.
Citing the Washington Examiner, the report said Tehran was able to sell significant volumes of hydrocarbons before sanctions and maritime restrictions were reimposed. During the interval between the two phases of the blockade, Iran is also reported to have exported an additional 57 million barrels of oil.
Despite the renewed restrictions, the report said Iran continues to hold sizeable oil reserves. Approximately 30 million barrels remain in onshore storage facilities, while another 60 million barrels are reportedly being kept in floating storage within the blockade zone.
