Media: Netanyahu approved Israeli overnight strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had approved the overnight Israeli airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, an official in the Prime Minister’s Office tells The Times of Israel.
He received updates on the operation during his flight to the United States, the official adds.
On the night of July 6, the Israeli Air Force launched a series of airstrikes against Houthi-controlled targets in Yemen.
Approximately 20 fighter jets carried out the operation, deploying over 50 munitions on terrorist facilities located at the ports of Hodeidah, Ras Issa, Al-Salif, and the Ras Kanteeb power plant, according to the Telegram channel of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Before the strikes, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings for civilians in the areas surrounding the mentioned ports and the power station—all situated in territory held by the Houthi rebel movement, also known as Ansar Allah.
IDF spokesperson Avichai Edri posted an official warning on his X (formerly Twitter) page in Arabic, stating that Israeli forces would soon commence operations targeting these locations, which are reportedly used by the Houthis for military purposes.
