Media: Trump's Board of Peace discusses plan to build port in Gaza Strip
The Board of Peace created by US President Donald Trump has discussed with port operator DP World the possible construction of a new seaport in the Gaza Strip.
The talks also considered an alternative option — building a port on the Egyptian coastline near the border with Gaza, the Financial Times reports.
Sources said the discussions covered not only the infrastructure project itself but also a broader cooperation framework, including the possible creation of a free trade zone in the Gaza Strip.
The project is expected to involve logistics for humanitarian aid deliveries, warehousing infrastructure, and security arrangements.
International organisations estimate that rebuilding Gaza after large-scale destruction caused by years of armed conflict could require around $70 billion.
The talks are at an early stage, and no concrete decisions have yet been made.
The Board of Peace is a newly formed international organisation initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump to promote peace, coordinating post‑conflict reconstruction, and supporting humanitarian efforts around the world.
It was first announced in September 2025 and formally established with a charter signed in January 2026 at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
