Millions affected by severe flooding in Bangladesh
Since early August, at least three million residents of Bangladesh have been affected by severe flooding that has impacted eight regions of the country.
The flooding, triggered by river overflow due to monsoon rains, has caused the most damage in the districts of Feni, Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Noakhali, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The floodwaters have submerged 208 rural communities, led to landslides, destroyed homes, disrupted transportation, and interrupted electricity supplies. Throughout Bangladesh, the disaster has left three million people without livelihoods. Reports from affected areas indicate fatalities and missing persons, though the exact numbers are not yet specified.
The monsoon season, which brings heavy rainfall, lasts from June to October in Bangladesh. Meteorologists estimate that this year's flooding is the most severe the country has experienced in the past 37 years.
