Missile strike hits Central Bank facility in occupied Sevastopol
A fire has broken out at a Central Bank building in Sevastopol, Russia-occupied Crimea, following a reported overnight attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to local authorities.
Mikhail Razvozhaev, the city’s so-called “governor”, said the attack involved multiple types of aerial weapons and was repelled by air defences and mobile fire groups.
“In Sevastopol, the military and mobile fire groups repelled a combined attack throughout the night. The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the city with various aerial means, including Storm Shadow missiles.
More than 20 UAVs were shot down in the areas of the Northern Side, Fiolent, Sevastopol Bay, and Omega Bay.
No one was injured.
According to preliminary data from the Sevastopol Rescue Service, a missile struck the building of the Southern Directorate of the Central Bank on Lastovaya Street, setting its roof on fire. Nearby residential buildings sustained damage to windows and balconies from the blast wave.
On Lastovaya Square, an eight-story apartment building was also damaged, with its facade, windows, and balconies affected.
In the area of Gogol Street, according to a preliminary version, a missile also damaged an administrative building that had long been unused. In nearby residential apartment buildings, windows were damaged by the blast wave; the extent of the damage is being clarified,” the statement said.
