Mosques burned, homes damaged in West Bank settler violence PHOTO
Four Palestinians were injured on June 17 in an attack by Israeli settlers on the town of Beita, south of Nablus in the northern West Bank, while two mosques north of Ramallah were also set on fire.
Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that settlers attacked Palestinian homes in the Bir Quza and al-Hariq areas of Beita, damaging several vehicles and smashing windows before residents confronted them.
The sources added that Israeli army forces stormed the area and assaulted residents, injuring four people. The injured received on-site medical treatment.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army.
In a separate incident, settlers set fire to two mosques in the villages of Jaljulia and Mazra’a al-Nubani, north of Ramallah in the central West Bank.
The West Bank has witnessed a continuous escalation since October 7, 2023, including killings, arrests, home demolitions, and settler attacks.
According to a UN report released in mid-June, since January more than 1,000 settler attacks have caused casualties or property damage across more than 230 communities, with over 2,200 Palestinians displaced in this context.
