NATO flags fly at half-mast to show solidarity with Türkiye

Flags at NATO headquarters were lowered at half-mast in a sign of solidarity with Türkiye hit by earthquakes centred in Kahramanmarash province.

The flags of 30 allied countries in front of the NATO headquarters in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, will remain in the middle until February 9 evening, TRT Haber reports.

"We sincerely thank our allies for the help they have sent to our country since yesterday with this meaningful and strong message of solidarity," a statement by Ankara's Permanent Mission to NATO reads.

NATO Spokesperson Oana Lungescu also stated that NATO member countries have mobilized aid efforts to support those in need of assistance in the earthquake area.
