NATO hails progress on Azerbaijan-Armenia peace
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed satisfaction over the meaningful progress toward peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, according to the Alliance’s 2025 annual report.
"The initialling of the August peace deal was a major step towards normalisation and regional security, and NATO stands ready to deepen dialogue and cooperation with both countries," the report reads, Caliber.Az reports.
It also highlights NATO’s readiness to deepen dialogue and cooperation with both Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Azerbaijan’s active participation in the Partnership for Peace programme and its engagement in the Defence Education Enhancement Programme Military, which facilitates expertise sharing with partner nations, were singled out as key contributions.
The report notes the importance of NATO Centres of Excellence, which provide specialised knowledge and support Alliance capabilities. Currently, 30 centres are operational, with five more under evaluation. Azerbaijan is among eight partner countries actively contributing to their work.
