NATO urges need to strengthen Georgia's cybersecurity due to situation in Ukraine
NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General James Appathurai has said that NATO should strengthen Georgia's cybersecurity amid a special operation in Ukraine.
“I am here to consider new proposals and initiatives with the Georgian government, the parliament,” Appathurai said via the Georgian Imedi TV channel on April 20. “I will have meetings at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
The NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General added that Russia's special operation in Ukraine showed that it is necessary to strengthen Georgia's cybersecurity capabilities.
Appathurai arrived in Tbilisi on April 20 morning. Besides official meetings, the NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General is scheduled to deliver a speech at a meeting of the Defense and Security Committee of the Georgian parliament. The closed meeting with the MPs will be held.
