New ammunition developed for Turkish UAVs PHOTO
The latest Kayı ammunition, which can be used on various manned and unmanned aerial vehicles of the Turkish defence industry, has been displayed for the first time at the SAHA EXPO - 2022 defence exhibition.
TÜBITAK SAGE, according to Yeniakit, has introduced a new type of Kay ammunition that can be used on a variety of manned and unmanned aerial platforms, with free-fall ammunition characteristics and product range.
All components used in the design of the Kayı family of guided miniature ammunition were developed at the national level.
Kayı ammunition for changing the combat concept can be used with anti-personnel, armour-piercing or thermobaric warheads.
The Kayı weapon system, together with a modular system specially designed for the Kayı ammunition family, has the ability to integrate quickly and flexibly onto various platforms.
A real-time fire control module integrated into a system with multiple aircraft in the armament system was designed to support an attack using more than one munition.
Guided miniature ammunition Kayi 30 - weighs 30 kilograms and has a length of 100 centimetres;
Kayı 50 - weighs 50 kilograms and has a length of 130 centimetres.
Kayı ammunition with a range of 25 kilometres has a deflection radius of fewer than 3 metres.
Director of the TÜBITAK SAGE Institute Gurhan Okumus said that TÜBITAK participates in the exhibition with a large stand.
According to him, as the UAV evolves, the expansion of the family of ammunition for them becomes increasingly important.
"We created the Bozok as the first ammunition for the UAV, and it is still in serial production. We can see that various weights and types of ammunition are required.
Because our UAVs with different carrying capacities are evolving. We began selling a large number of UAVs to the rest of the world, which is critical. As a result, wherever our UAVs appear, a significant ammunition market appears. The Kayı ammunition family is defined by its middle-class characteristics. There are various versions, 30 and 50 kilograms, with various types of unified combat units. Because of the modular guidance systems Gözdes and Gökçes, they can be used as ammunition not only for UAVs, but also for combat aircraft such as the F-16, F-4, and F-15 " Okumus stated.
