26 July 2025 10:36

Tamar Taliashvili, the newly appointed Ambassador of Georgia to the United States, formally presented her credentials to US President Donald Trump during an official ceremony held at the White House on July 25.

During the presentation, Ambassador Taliashvili held a meeting with President Trump, who conveyed his best wishes for her future diplomatic service, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.

“It was a momentous occasion for US-Georgia relations,” the Ambassador said following the ceremony. “I had the honour of handing over my credentials to President Donald Trump. During our exchange, I relayed the warm greetings and well-wishes of the Georgian government, the people of Georgia, as well as those of the Prime Minister and the President of Georgia. I shared Georgia’s core messages regarding our relationship with the United States — messages that reflect our readiness to open a new chapter in bilateral ties, based on mutual advantage and a stronger partnership. Our aim is to further develop the strong people-to-people bonds that already exist between our two nations.”

Taliashvili described the meeting as taking place in a “cordial and friendly” environment. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was also present at the ceremony.

She expressed gratitude to the US administration for arranging the event on such short notice, noting the efficiency and support shown in facilitating the credentialing process.

The Ambassador also highlighted a separate meeting held the previous day with Ambassador Monica Crawley, Chief of Protocol of the United States. Taliashvili described the discussion as “productive and meaningful,” adding that it was conducted in a warm and welcoming setting.

“These engagements gave us a valuable opportunity to explore ways to enhance the Georgia–US relationship and to outline a clear action plan for our future cooperation, ensuring it remains robust, strategic, and long-lasting,” she concluded.
