Azerbaijan-Georgia Youth Week paves way for enduring partnership
Azerbaijan and Georgia are set to elevate their cooperation in youth and education by transitioning joint initiatives from one-time events to permanent, structured programs.
The announcement was made by Georgian Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Miknadze, during a meeting with Azerbaijani and Georgian students attending a summer camp in the Azerbaijani city of Guba, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The event was also attended by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, and Georgia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze.
Speaking at the gathering, Miknadze emphasised the strong foundation of mutual understanding and cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan, rooted in shared interests, historical ties, and enduring friendship.
“We have indeed achieved a high level of mutual understanding and cooperation with Azerbaijan,” Miknadze said. “Joint educational youth initiatives, including camps and other diverse projects, will no longer remain isolated events but will be developed into systematic programs.”
He also credited the presidents of both countries — Mikheil Kavelashvili of Georgia and Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan — for their pivotal role in supporting and facilitating such joint ventures. According to Miknadze, the successful organisation of the current camp was made possible thanks to their direct support.
Expressing gratitude to his Azerbaijani counterpart Farid Gayibov, the Georgian minister praised the productive collaboration between the two ministries and expressed confidence that Georgia would soon host students from both nations in return.
The summer camp forms part of Georgian-Azerbaijani Youth Week, which runs from July 22 to 27 and takes place across three Azerbaijani cities: Guba, Baku, and Sumgayit. A total of 90 students from both countries are taking part in the program.
The week-long initiative offers a rich mix of excursions, sporting activities, educational workshops, cultural events, and a youth forum, aimed at strengthening ties between Azerbaijani and Georgian youth, fostering intercultural exchange, and promoting mutual understanding.
