Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has pardoned more than 200 people in connection with the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, the presidential administration has said.
It noted that the pardon applies to 217 people serving prison sentences and six people who are not incarcerated, while criminal records were cleared for three others, Caliber.Az reports.
“The exercise by the President of Georgia of the exceptional powers granted to him by the Constitution is based on the principles of humanism and state interests,” the administration added.
