Ombudswoman appeals to int'l organisations regarding explosive found in Khojavand school
On December 18, an explosive device was discovered in a school located in Yemishjan village, Khojavand region.
Sabina Aliyeva, Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, made a statement regarding the discovery, per Caliber.Az.
"The fact that during demining operations carried out in the territories liberated from occupation, booby traps, improvised (homemade) explosive devices were repeatedly found, once again confirms Armenia's terrorist policy towards Azerbaijanis," she stated.
"During operations carried out by employees of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) in a school located in the territory of Yemishjan village of Khojavand district, an F-1 hand grenade was discovered in one of the classrooms, fastened with tape to a desk.
The placement of a booby trap in an educational institution, which had been switched to live mode and attached to a chair and a door handle with rope, shows that terror is directed against peaceful civilians.
As the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudswoman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I strongly condemn Armenia's criminal actions accompanied by gross violation of the fundamental human rights and freedoms of the civilian population, and call on international organisations to react strongly to such actions," the statement reads.
