"Operation 'Revenge’ - punitive measure which showed Armenia that nothing can stop us" Azerbaijani president's statement

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said that the Armenian side once again committed an armed provocation, as a result of which an Azerbaijani serviceman died.

“May Allah rest his soul, as well as the souls of all our martyrs,” President Aliyev said in an interview with Azerbaijani television in Basgal settlement of the Ismayilli district on August 12, Oxu.Az reports referring to Azertag.

“However, everyone saw and must see that the blood of our soldier did not remain unavenged. We immediately carried out the "Revenge" operation, avenged our martyr, and severely punished the opposite side,” the president said.

Noting that this operation, which lasted for several hours, was a punitive measure, the president stressed that operation “Revenge” once again showed Armenia that no one and nothing can stop Azerbaijan.

“No one's statement, no phone call, nothing, and no one can stop us. The Azerbaijani people know this well. The second Karabakh war showed this. I am sure the other side knows this too. Just sometimes it forgets about it. That is why such tragic events occur,” President Aliyev said.

“Why should our children die after the war? We cannot allow this. I reiterate that if such a provocation reoccurs, the response will be tougher, and Armenia will regret even more. I reiterate that we do not intend to start a new war. It is enough. We achieved what we wanted," President Aliyev said reminding that Azerbaijan won the war and restored territorial integrity.

The Azerbaijani president stressed that the Armenian armed formations must leave the Karabakh region once and for all.

President Aliyev noted that Yerevan’s this obligation was enshrined in the act of surrender signed by Armenia on November 10, 2020.
