OSCE to examine Russian strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure At Kyiv’s request

13 January 2026 18:57

Ukraine has called on the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to review Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on January 13.

The meeting is scheduled for January 15, coinciding with the OSCE’s first Permanent Council session of 2026.

“There is and will be no pauses in pressure on Russia, including in international fora, as long as the terrorist state is dead set on its genocidal war of aggression,” Sybiha said in a post on X.

According to Sybiha, the extraordinary debate comes after a series of emergency meetings, including sessions of the United Nations Security Council and NATO, and will directly address Russian strikes and what Ukraine describes as Moscow’s disregard for U.S.-led peace efforts.

“The timing of the extraordinary debate is meant to align with the inaugural OSCE Permanent Council meeting in 2026 and presentation of the Chairpersonship’s priorities by my friend Ignazio Cassis, clearly showing that a lasting peace for Ukraine tops this Organisation’s and OSCE 26CH agenda,” Sybiha added.

He urged participating states to recognise the severity of the challenge posed by Russia’s ongoing aggression. “I urge all OSCE participating States to rise up to the threat and sheer magnitude of the challenge the biggest and longest war in Europe since WWII presents to the very notions of sovereignty, territorial integrity, freedom, and human life,” he said.
