Over 100 Britons leave Gaza through Rafah checkpoint

British Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden has said that more than 100 British citizens have left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing point on the border with Egypt.

"More than 100 British citizens have passed through the Rafah crossing into Egypt," Sky News quotes Dowden as saying.

He also expressed regret over the closure of the Rafah checkpoint.

"We could have taken more people out of Gaza. But we are working to get the crossing reopened," he emphasized.
