PM Pashinyan: Rejection of USSR-era borders threatens Armenia's statehood
Armenia's rejection of the borders that were established during the Soviet era implies the loss of independence and statehood, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Facebook.
"I must say frankly that such an approach is perilous for Armenia, because rejecting the maps of the Soviet era may mean rejecting statehood and independence, because we gained independence on the territory of Soviet Armenia, and the international community recognised us as such. Loyalty to our internationally recognised territory is important for security and is a buffer for us," Caliber.Az quotes him as saying.
The prime minister added that if the citizens of Armenia themselves do not recognise the internationally recognised territory, they give others the opportunity not to recognise it.
"By not recognising our internationally recognised territory, we open our gates to others," he noted.
