Poland denies president’s involvement in Nord Stream sabotage
Undersecretary of State at the Chancellery of Polish president Wojciech Kolarski has said that Polish President Andrzej Duda was unaware of any plans to sabotage the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines.
"The president learned about this issue only when we received the European arrest warrant," Kolarski said during a broadcast on the Polsat TV channel, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
He noted that Germany is handling the investigation and added that Poland is not privy to the details of the case.
On September 26, 2022, a series of underwater explosions occurred near the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in the Baltic Sea, causing significant damage to both pipelines. The explosions led to large-scale gas leaks, creating environmental concerns and disrupting the supply of natural gas.
The damage was widely suspected to be an act of sabotage, as the explosions were too powerful and precise to be accidental. The incident was quickly labeled as a deliberate attack, though the perpetrator remained unidentified.
