Poland plans thirtyfold increase in 155 mm artillery shell production
Poland intends to increase the production of 155 mm artillery shells thirtyfold in the coming years.
Speaking at the Local Government Forum in Zakopane, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz said, per Polish media.
“The production capacity for 155 mm ammunition should increase thirtyfold thanks to the law on ammunition factories.”
He added that the government has allocated 3 billion zlotys (about USD 750 million) for the construction of three such plants, noting that their commissioning will ensure Poland’s self-sufficiency in the production of ammunition of this calibre.
The minister also recalled that over the past two years, MESKO — a company within the PGZ defence group — has increased its output of small-calibre ammunition from 50 million to 250 million units per year.
