27 August 2026 11:01
The US government will provide $500,000 in emergency assistance to people affected by the devastating flash floods in Nepal.
The US Department of State said the funding will be used to provide affected communities with temporary shelter, drinking water, and other essential supplies.
The State Department has also deployed a disaster response adviser to the region to help coordinate and support relief and rescue operations.
Earlier, on August 26, a massive landslide occurred near the China-Nepal border in the area of the Gyirong border crossing. The disaster has so far claimed 157 lives in Nepal and three in Tibet.
