President Aliyev approves defence cooperation agreement with Ethiopia
President Ilham Aliyev has approved a defence cooperation agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, according to information published on the official website of the head of state.
The agreement was signed in Baku on February 27, 2026, in Baku.
The agreement aims to establish a legal framework for defence cooperation between the parties and to strengthen bilateral relations across key areas, including military education, personnel training, joint exercises, civil-military cooperation, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations, logistical support, and military-technical collaboration. It also underlines that cooperation in the defence sector contributes to international peace and stability.
It outlines several forms of cooperation, such as official visits and working meetings, military education and training programs, bilateral negotiations and consultations, participation in joint exercises and defence exhibitions, as well as exchanges of military and civilian delegations.
The implementation of the agreement will be overseen by the defence ministries of both countries, designated as the competent authorities.
