President Aliyev: Azerbaijan firmly supports "One China" policy PHOTO
On April 17, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev formally accepted the credentials of Lu Mei, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The announcement was published on the official website of the President of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.
During the meeting, President Aliyev emphasised that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and China have evolved into a strategic partnership. He noted that cooperation between the two countries encompasses a wide range of sectors, including political, trade and economic relations, transportation, energy, industry, investment, security, as well as cultural and humanitarian collaboration.
The head of state also spoke about the effective partnership and reciprocal support that Azerbaijan and China have demonstrated within international organisations. He reaffirmed Baku’s resolute support for the “One China” policy.
Addressing China’s global infrastructure initiative “Belt and Road,” President Aliyev stated that the project contributes to the connectivity of nations and promotes cooperation across a broad geographic area. He highlighted that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to endorse the initiative and pointed to the Middle Corridor as a promising framework for further enhancing bilateral cooperation in transit and logistics.
Ambassador Lu Mei, for her part, commended Azerbaijan’s progress and development under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. She reaffirmed China’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ambassador described the relationship between the two countries as friendly and strategic, and pledged to dedicate her efforts to further deepening and expanding the comprehensive bilateral ties.
