President Aliyev holds talks with head of US Congress of Christian Leaders at Davos
On January 22, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met in Davos with President of the US Congress of Christian Leaders Johnnie Moore on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The meeting took place at the request of Moore, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
During their discussions, both sides expressed satisfaction with the religious freedoms in Azerbaijan, highlighting the peaceful coexistence of people from various nations and religions within the country.
The talks also included an exchange of views on the positive developments in Azerbaijani-American relations during the presidency of Donald Trump.
President Aliyev remarked that under the Biden-Blinken administration, the U.S. demonstrated a biased approach toward Azerbaijan, which has resulted in a crisis in their bilateral relations.
Aliyev further criticized the restoration of the 907th amendment, calling it an act of ingratitude from the current U.S. administration.
The conversation concluded with a focus on the future of relations between Azerbaijan and the Trump administration.
Notably, President Ilham Aliyev is taking part in the 55th annual World Economic Forum in the Swiss city of Davos, joining other global leaders to discuss key challenges and opportunities for sustainable development and innovation.
The WEF has been held for 55 years in the heart of the Swiss Alps in the ski resort of Davos. The main theme of this year's forum, which commenced on January 20 and will last for 4 days, is “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age”.
Key topics include trade dynamics, economic growth, and international cooperation, with a focus on addressing geopolitical shocks, stimulating growth to improve living standards, and stewarding a just and inclusive energy transition.
The forum is expected to be attended by about 3,000 representatives from more than 130 countries, including 60 heads of state and government and 900 CEOs of the world's leading companies.
