On January 27, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan received Jonathan Missner, Co-Founder and member of the Board of Advisors of the Israel Economic Forum.
President Aliyev underlined Azerbaijan’s long-standing tradition of peaceful coexistence among representatives of various religions and faiths, including the Jewish community, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He emphasized that this harmonious environment is not only a hallmark of Azerbaijani culture but also a core tenet of state policy.
Drawing on Azerbaijan’s own experiences, President Aliyev highlighted the nation’s pivotal role in fostering interfaith and intercultural dialogue on a global scale. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to continuing its contributions to this important cause.
During the meeting, the guests expressed their gratitude to the president for creating conditions that have ensured the peaceful coexistence of the Jewish community in Azerbaijan throughout history. They announced plans to visit the Guba district to observe the living conditions of the Jewish community there first hand.
The visitors also discussed their recent tour of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, praising the extensive reconstruction and restoration work undertaken in a remarkably short timeframe.
The delegation, which included several Jewish business leaders from around the world, acknowledged Azerbaijan’s appeal as a hub for business and investment. They engaged in discussions about potential opportunities for collaboration in various sectors.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on the future of Azerbaijan-Israel and Azerbaijan-US relations, highlighting the potential for strengthening ties in the years ahead.
