President Aliyev, PM Sharif reaffirm Azerbaijan–Pakistan brotherhood in Eid al-Adha phone call

On June 7, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, held a telephone conversation with Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holy Eid al-Adha, wishing continued progress and prosperity for the country, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

In response, President Aliyev conveyed his congratulations to Prime Minister Sharif and the people of Pakistan on the same occasion, expressing wishes for happiness, growth, and well-being for the Pakistani nation.

Both leaders fondly recalled their recent bilateral meeting in Lachin, as well as the trilateral summit held in the Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Pakistan format. They expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of these meetings, noting that the discussions had significantly contributed to strengthening the ties between their two countries.

The conversation also included an exchange of views on expanding bilateral cooperation across a broad range of sectors, including the economy, trade, energy, industry, defence, science, education, and tourism, among others.

The two sides also discussed the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit, which is set to take place this summer in Khankendi, Azerbaijan. Both President Aliyev and Prime Minister Sharif expressed optimism that the summit would help further enhance collaboration among ECO member states.

In addition, the call covered other matters of mutual interest.
