President Aliyev reaffirms Azerbaijan’s commitment to global dialogue in meeting with UN official

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has welcomed United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Ángel Moratinos on March 12.

Moratinos expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev and Azerbaijan for their consistent support of the Alliance's activities and their significant contribution to advancing its goals on the global stage, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

He highlighted Azerbaijan’s active participation in Alliance events and underscored that the country’s voluntary financial contributions are crucial to the organisation's success.

In his response, Ilham Aliyev praised Azerbaijan’s ongoing collaboration with the Alliance and reiterated Baku’s commitment to supporting its work. He emphasised that the objectives of the Alliance align with Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, stressing the country’s active role in promoting intercultural dialogue worldwide.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the pressing issue of Islamophobia and explored avenues for further cooperation to address this challenge.
