Pro-Palestinian group attacks SOCAR office in Istanbul 10 detained / PHOTO/VIDEO
On June 1, pro-Palestinian radical groups with ties to certain circles in Iran, attacked the SOCAR office in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The protesters threw paint on the building and tried to break into the office, Caliber.Az reports.
According to media reports, the radicals thus expressed their dissatisfaction with the relations between Azerbaijan and Israel in the energy sector.
The attack was organized by groups operating in Türkiye. These forces seek to discredit the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) - one of the symbols of brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye (the total volume of SOCAR's investments in the Turkish economy exceeded $18 billion) - and generally undermine Azerbaijan's reputation in the eyes of Turkish society.
Nevertheless, we are confident that these attempts will not succeed. SOCAR will continue its activities, strengthening the economic partnership between our countries and contributing to the consolidation of brotherly relations.
On June 2, according to Turkish media, 10 members of the group "Thousand Youth for Palestine" who attacked the SOCAR office were detained. We believe that the authorities in Istanbul will conduct a thorough investigation and all the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Another thing that caught our attention was that a French journalist was at the site of the rally in advance (photo above).
As for the accusations of close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel, we have repeatedly emphasized that any partnership of our country is based primarily on the national interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
At the same time, it has been repeatedly emphasized at the highest level that Azerbaijan's cooperation with any country is not directed against third countries. Unfortunately, not everyone has yet realized that Azerbaijan does not accept the language of threats and blackmail, and any such actions are doomed to failure.
