Qatar refuses to impose anti-Russian sanctions
Russian Ambassador to Qatar Dmitry Dogadkin said that the emirate did not join the sanctions against Russia and took a firm stance on this issue.
The diplomat noted that in recent years, the member countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (GCC) have become Russia's strategic partners. And Qatar, as one of the members of the GCC, has become Russia's key partner in the region, according to Gazeta.ru.
“Qatar is the largest investor in the Russian economy. Moreover, the leadership of the monarchy took a firm stance in terms of non-alignment with anti-Russian sanctions after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine,” Dogadkin said.
Earlier, Dogadkin said that Russia and Qatar are working on joint projects worth more than 160 billion rubles ($166 million).
