Türkiye cracks down on smuggling: Over 100 kg of precious stones seized

Turkish authorities have successfully intercepted an illegal trade involving precious stones and jewellery smuggled into the country.

Turkish media reports that the Istanbul prosecutor's office concluded its investigation into 43 individuals detained during a targeted operation by law enforcement units.

All 43 suspects have been referred to court, with 30 of them formally arrested.

As part of the operation, authorities confiscated a total of 115 kilograms, 602 grams, and 419 milligrams of precious stones, including diamonds, quartz, emeralds, and rubies. In addition, 945 pieces of illegally imported jewellery — such as bracelets, earrings, and necklaces — were seized.
