Armenia to continue upgrading its Russian-made weapons
13 January 2026 15:38
Armenia will continue to modernise its existing Russian-made weaponry, Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan said at a press conference on January 13.
“There are sufficient munitions for the previously purchased SU-30SMs, and certain replenishments are expected: they can play a major role both in air defence and in protecting the country's territorial integrity,” the minister said, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
He added that the Armenian Armed Forces will also continue to procure the latest military equipment, including systems that meet NATO standards.
Armenia acquired four Su-30SM fighters from Russia in 2019. These jets were reportedly delivered without a full missile/munitions package.
