Iranian, Turkish FMs discuss latest developments in Iran during phone call
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi briefed his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, on recent developments in Iran during a phone call.
During the talks, the ministers also exchanged views on regional issues, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Protests have swept across Iran since December 28, 2025, starting at Tehran’s Grand Bazaar as the national currency plunged amid mounting economic pressures.
The US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency reported on January 13 that roughly 2,000 people have been killed and over 16,000 detained, though other sources indicate higher numbers.
Iranian officials warned that any US strike would render American forces and Israel legitimate targets. In response, President Donald Trump said the United States would retaliate with overwhelming force.
