Kazakhstan confirms oil shipments continue at CPC terminal after attack
The Ministry of Energy (ME) of Kazakhstan has provided an update on oil shipments at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal, following last year’s attack on the port infrastructure.
In December 2025, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov outlined the conditions under which CPC operations would return to normal, following damage to one of the terminal’s remote berths, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
On January 13, 2026, Advisor to the Minister and Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Energy, Asel Serikpayeva, confirmed that oil shipments are currently being conducted via remote berth VPU-1.
“The technological process is operating normally, with adjustments made for current weather conditions in the water area,” she said, adding that the ministry’s top priority remains ensuring stable export flows and preventing critical storage congestion.
Serikpayeva emphasized that the ministry continues to closely monitor the situation and maintains direct communication with international partners and the consortium operator.
The update follows the events of November 29, 2025, when CPC’s marine infrastructure near the Novorossiysk port was targeted by unmanned surface vehicles, resulting in serious damage to remote berth VPU-2.
By December 15, 2025, Minister Akkenzhenov reported that restoration work was underway and that the delivery of new installations was being accelerated to restore full terminal capacity.
