Russian senator claims Europe seeks US involvement in Ukraine war
Europe’s policy is aimed at drawing the United States into supporting Ukraine, despite its dislike of US President Donald Trump, Alexey Pushkov, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Information Policy, told TASS.
“European policy is that, despite their dislike of Trump, they are trying to draw him into aggressive support for Ukraine, and therefore — into a conflict with Russia,” Pushkov said.
He added that Europe has not abandoned hopes of achieving this objective, but without the United States it is incapable of confronting Russia.
“It can allocate money to Ukraine — it is allocating it. It can buy weapons for Ukraine — it is buying them. It can produce drones and necessary components for them at its factories — it is doing that. It can also encourage Ukraine to conduct military operations in every possible way. But achieving its goals is beyond its capacity,” Pushkov noted.
